In 2015, I undertook a fascinating project in my home workshop for a client. The task was to convert a 2-stroke (70 cc) scooter into a four-wheeled vehicle tailored for children. After a thorough assessment of the engine's capabilities, I opted to construct a roll cage-style chassis featuring a double wishbone suspension setup and a rear-mounted engine with a rear axle drive system.
The overarching goal was to create a buggy that would provide an enjoyable driving experience for children aged 10 to 15 years old.

The Prelude...

Once the engine's mounting point coordinates were obtained, I proceeded to create a 3D design for the space frame chassis. Simultaneously, I used Suspension Analysis software to develop the suspension points. Subsequently, in my workshop, I fabricated the roll cage using a metal tube system.

After fitting all the accessories and conducting numerous tests, I meticulously shaped metal sheets over the roll cage to form the body. Following this, I applied paint to give it a polished finish. Subsequently, I installed additional accessories such as lights, mirrors, and other essential components.

Ultimately, the car was delivered to the client, and it was a heartwarming moment when a young child, accompanied by his father, came to receive his little car. Witnessing my creation on the road filled me with immense joy and satisfaction. This experience solidified my resolve to pursue a career as a designer.

VERSION 2.0
What if...
With a substantial foundation in transportation design, I became motivated to further enhance my work, aiming for improved design while prioritizing environmental friendliness. As part of this vision, I embarked on the endeavour of designing an electric powertrain for the vehicle.
My aspiration is to bring this eco-friendly concept to life in my workshop!

CONCEPT
Active ground clearance increase is a feature that allows a vehicle to adjust its height from the ground according to the terrain and driving conditions. It is a useful feature for off-road vehicles, as it can provide several benefits, such as:
•Improving the vehicle’s ability to overcome obstacles, such as rocks, logs, or ruts, by increasing the clearance when needed.
•Enhancing the vehicle’s stability and handling, by lowering the centre of gravity and reducing body roll when driving on flat or paved roads.
•Reducing the risk of damage to the vehicle’s underbody, bumpers, or exhaust system, by avoiding contact with the ground or debris.
•Increasing the comfort and safety of the passengers, by absorbing road shocks and vibrations better than a rigid suspension system.
